Notification of Damaged or Mislabeled Slabs
If a slab is returned from CGC or PSA with damage or incorrect label information, the grading company must be notified within the timeframe specified by that grading service to request a complimentary correction or re-slabbing. The Comic Doctor will assist clients whose slabs arrive damaged or mislabeled, provided the issue is identified promptly and within the grading company’s stated policy window.
-
Comic Preparation and Shipping
All comics pressed and cleaned by The Comic Doctor are placed in new comic sleeves and backed with .56 mil acid-free boards. Comics are securely packed using industry-standard methods and shipped to CGC or PSA via FedEx 1- or 2-Day Express service, including cross-border shipments where applicable. While The Comic Doctor takes every reasonable precaution to ensure safe packaging and shipment, responsibility for the comics transfers once they leave our care, and The Comic Doctor cannot be held responsible for damage, loss, or mishandling occurring in transit or while in the possession of third-party grading services.
-
Independence from Grading Companies
The Comic Doctor is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with CGC or PSA. We have no involvement in, or control over, grading, labeling, or encapsulation decisions. As such, The Comic Doctor is not responsible for grades, labels, holder quality, or any determinations made by CGC or PSA.
-
Disputes and Assistance
Clients wishing to dispute a grade, label, or encapsulation decision must contact CGC or PSA directly. If a client requests The Comic Doctor’s assistance with communications or submissions related to such disputes, a $100 USD service fee (or CAD equivalent) will apply.
-
Re-Submission for Re-Evaluation
If a client disagrees with a grade or label issued by CGC or PSA, the comic may be re-submitted for re-evaluation at the client’s discretion. All re-submitted comics are subject to any and all applicable pressing, grading, shipping, customs, brokerage, duties, and insurance fees, as determined by the grading service and shipping carrier.
-
Risk Acknowledgment
Clients acknowledge that submitting comics to any third-party grading service involves inherent risk, including but not limited to damage, mishandling, delays, or loss. While serious issues are uncommon, such risks exist for both domestic and cross-border submissions once comics leave The Comic Doctor’s facility. By choosing to submit comics for grading, clients in both the United States and Canada acknowledge and accept these risks prior to encapsulation.
